Trip Journal - Day 2

Day 2: Kaoshiung ---> Taitung

I thought i would be pretty tired to wake up at 6am but surprisingly not, heee... Maybe becos its only the start of the tour.

1st Stop: Spring & Autumn Pavilions (春秋阁)
A place where you can see the Dragon and Tiger Pagodas - BUT, when we were there its under renovation!! Sigh.. so quite a few areas that we are unable to access. Mainly just go there to take some pics, that's it. Nothing very interesting here.

e Place under renovation

Outside the pagoda - Obviously, i need a haircut soon!!

Rarwww like Dragon

2nd Stop: Mei Non Hakka Village (美浓客家村)

Not really a very 'village' place cos pretty commercialise already. A small place where you can learn a little more about the Hakka culture.

At the Hakka Viallage

Me & Mr. G outside one of the small house

Playing the puppet show

3rd Stop: Fo Kuang Shan Monastery (佛光山)

We reached this place around 11am+. Hee... so by time, i was feeling alittle hungry, then when i saw the place..... i almost FAINTED! The temple is far high up! With choice of either steep staircase or walk path - either way... it seems sooooo far away... *Xerene was hoping that there were helping transport like cable car or mini bus etc* Help.....!

Finally, we reached the temple.....

4th Stop: Hon Yeh Hot Spring (红叶温泉)

Ah..... My FIRST time to Hot Spring eh :) & i was describing to SH & Evil Jojo about my hot spring experience. So i said "The hot spring is very hot!" Hahaha.... Darn lame but that's what came into my mind first when i wanna describe the 'how i feel'.

Okie, besides that its super relaxing and i love it! You are surrounded with nature as you dip yourself in the hot spring... with views of mountains under the starry night - nice nice!!

We only spend around half hour there cos it starts drizzling and they said you would need to get up once your fingers starts to get 'wrinkled' :)

We are ready for the Hot Spring

After the 'Dip'

5th Stop: Master Bear Resort (小熊渡假村)

I love this place cos it's very cosy and you far away from the city. This resort is situated at one of the Mountain at Taitung - nice air and environment there.

Reached the "Little Bear" Resort

After dinner, they even organised some games for us and we also lighted the Sky Lantern (天灯) - You need to write your wishes on the lantern and if manage to light the Sky Lantern, it means your wishes will come true! Heee.... They also put up some fireworks & I've uploaded 2 videos too! :)

Writing down our wishes on the lantern

And it's time to go to bed after all the activities - actually feel quite sleepy after the hot spring dip. I kinda have a feel i'm gonna fall sick... so quickly i popped down a panadol & indeed i had a good sleep for the night :)

This is my Room :)

Trip Journal - Day 1

Taiwan Day 1: Kaohsiung

We started our day very early as we have to reach the airport around 5.15am.. *Yawns*

There was no entertainment for Silkair so we just try to sleep our way through... But it was so disturbing - I seriously don't know why there are so many people going to the toilet!! Arrghh.... the queue was like never ending and those uncles & aunties were talking very loudly. So my advice, please avoid taking the last few rows if you are traveling with Silkair + knowing that most are mainly going for tours.

Flight to Taiwan - i look soooo tired :(

Too bored, so we played Hang-Man, heee..

We arrived Kaohsiung at around 1pm and the weather there was not as cold as i thought it would be. In fact you don't need a jacket at all.... But during evening, it starts to get colder.

At Kaohsiung Airport

Me & Mel at the airport

1st Stop: Dream Mall

Our first stop was to drop by Dream Mall as we were too early for night market. The shopping mall is very new and our tour guide told us that it is also one of the biggest mall in Taiwan. Oh ya, if you are a Hello Kitty Fan (e.g. Dr. Octopus *oOops*) - You will love this place! Cos you can find lots of big Hello Kitty figurings around and the ferry wheel's theme is Hello Kitty too! :)

This shopping mall is pretty interesting as they have lots of different small shops around and it includes both indoor and outdoor theme park.

Makan Time First! Hungry liao

Look at those Hello Kitty Figurings :)

Let's go to the Theme Park!

Wanted to try the bubble walk on water - Looks soooo FUN!

Hee.... Me playing kids stuff ^^

2nd Stop: Liou He Night Market (六合夜市)

This night market sells lots of Taiwan Xiao Chi - i especially like the 日式鸡排 (Jap-style Chicken Culet)! Very yummie!! Good place to try the Taiwanese Snacks there (not so much of shopping) but I learnt from one of the locals there that the prices over at this night market is a little more expensive as compared to the rest - more to a tourist night market.

This is the stall i loved!!

After these two places, we headed back to the hotel and rest cos tomorrow's gonna be another long day and the morning call will be at 6.30am!!

Back From My Trip!

Hee... Yes, finally i am back from Taiwan. These 7 days in Taiwan was really fun!! Started my trip from Kaohsiung to Taitung, Hualien, Taipei, Taizhong, Kaohsiung & back Sg.

My Thoughts: I must say Taiwan is really a place full of excitment with lots of interesting places to visit from city areas to historic and cultural sites, to nature reserves & resorts etc. Basically a good mixture of everything & of cos, i especially like their night markets - open till 1 to 2am daily or even later during weekends!

People: They are generally very friendly, helpful and outgoing. Makes you feel soooo welcome! :)

Food: Quite nice but i find most of their Xiao Chi (Taiwan Snacks) are mainly fried or grilled which is pretty heaty. Prices more of less like Sg, about SGD 1 - 3 bucks.

Shopping: Excellent!! Hmm, i felt it's kinda as good as Bangkok, hee... Generally the clothings there are very trendy and cheap - Top/Bottom/Dress around SGD 5 - 25 bucks only! As for branded goods, not highly recommended as Sg gives a better rate.

Special Happening: Guess who i saw?!? It's... Ah Bian!! Yes, the president of Taiwan, Chen Shui-bian.

Special Visits: Went from city to village areas and met the infamous 槟榔西施 (Bing Lang Xi Shi) *Taken some Hot Pics* & danced with the A-mei Aboriginal.

Weird Stuff: My face looks bloated!! Not sure it's because of weather or i ate too much perhaps?? I think i put on weight eh, wahahaha...

In total i took around 900 odd photos out of these 7 days. Almost used up two 2gb memory card ^^ Unfortunately, i caught a cold during the 4th day and it got worse on the 6th day.... Will be posting my trip journal soon, hee... Meanwhile, i shall go get some sleep after my med :)

Bro is Back!

My brother is finally back from New Zealand. His first trip back since he left a year ago. We went to pick him up in the evening and the first thing we all felt.. is he put on weight! Well, he feels not though... Okie, maybe not fat but i must say his face looked bloated, hee.... ^^

Second, he surprise us by not bringing any luggage along! Winner... Basically he just carried a pouch + a mini laptop bag - which is only filled up with biscuits from New Zealand for his wife-to-be. *Sweet sweet*

That is him! Yeah, without luggage :)

At the Airport

Think from tomorrow onwards, he gonna be busy with his wedding preparations. And meanwhile, i shall go finish packing up my luggage too! Nitey :)

Shopping with Mama

After work today i was planning to do some shopping alone in town & happened that my mummy called me in the afternoon and said that she was going to Ochard too! Hee, so met her up along with my coming sista-in-law.

Mummy wanted to get a dress for bro's wedding dinner and we accompanied her to shop around from Wisma, tried a few dresses at Daniel Yam, then we brought her to >> Far East.

Mummy & Me :)

While waiting for our dinner at Far East, mummy went ahead to walk around first as time is limited. Around 20 mins later, she came back and said, " 都没有我要的裙子 (there's no dresses which i like here). So i replied her.. "Mummy, 这里是年轻人的地方 (a place for youngsters)" Heee... i suddenly feel like i'm like Evil Jojo, with evil thoughts. *Ooops* Basically we wanted to go Far East as i need to get my pimple cream, heee.. can't live without it especially when i'm travelling :)

After our dinner we headed to the last stop, CK Tangs. Mummy tried a few more dresses and finally she found something she like, which ended up, she settled for a Daniel Yam's dress. Alright, now mummy is happie COS the dress is to her & the bill to me....

my thoughts: If only i went shopping alone.... maybe the damage won't be sooo high, hee.. But well, she is mummy :)

Eyelash Extension Review

Yesterday, i went for my first attempt to eye lash extension, heee... Pulled SH (aka Woman 3.0) along and she did her eye lash perm - Check out her blog.

The Procedure: During the process, the glue might sometimes gives a 'stinging' feel in your eyes & your eyelid gets kinda itchy at times.
*Arrghh... feel like scracthing it man! But if you want to be pretty pretty, hee... Bear with it!*

"Strand-by-Strand" Method
(Photographer: SH)

Results: Thicker lashes & gives you the effect as if you've applied a good 'Volume' mascara. Ready eye liner too, save time on drawing it.

The End Results

Comfort Level: Not as bad as i thought but you really have to be very careful when you wash your face, cos you cannot rub your eyes.

+ Points: Looks natural & you can save time on putting on eye make up - Good for lazie people like me :)

- Points: Not 'wayang' (dolly) enough, hee...

Review: I'm pretty happy with this extension and it looks natural too. But i won't mind going for a more dramatic-effect eye lash extension the next round.

Price: SGD 58 nett

Can you see the eye lash extension effect??

Shopping Over Weekends

This weekend is about shopping, shop & shop... We shopped from yesterday morning and we went from Orchard to Queensway, Marina Square & AMK Hub. Heee.... bought quite a few stuffs mainly for our Taiwan Trip next week. Hurray!! I'm counting down eh -- 8 days to go!!

Actually just came back from AMK not too long & it's so sad to receive an sms from Beanie... Cos her hammie, Tau Pok died!!! Hope she'll be okie soon.. *Hugzz Beanie*

We catched the sneak preview of The Heartbreak Kid yesterday at GV Marina - The show is darn funny... Well, very Ben Stiller. Hee, i really enjoy watching comedy cos it'll lighten your day and you kinda feel happy after the movie.

Waiting for our movie to start - Marina Sq.

Mr. G, e Big-Kid & his 'Gummy Bears', heee....
